On Sept 25, the LSUE Foundation and Friends of the LeDoux Library hosted a lecture and exhibition of Objets D’Art highlighting the art designs and replica Fabergé eggs that I have been designing and creating for the past 20 years. These are truly labors of love with each design taking up to three years from start to finish.
Some of the Vivian Alexander eggs were on display with each egg possessing its own unique quality. The gem-encrusted Renaissance Egg valued at $35,000 (one of my personal favorites) was among those showcased. Other featured eggs included the Smirnoff Egg which was requested by the Smirnoff Company and designed with brilliant red and silver designs, a replica of the Rothschild Egg – a clock egg — and the Imperial Coronation egg – a brilliant gold egg placed inside a larger egg — used as a prop in the Warner Brothers movie, “Ocean’s 12.”
Several of these art pieces are currently on display in the LeDoux Library’s reading room.

After Storage in a Museum Vault for Twenty Two Years it’s Revealed!
With the gracious generosity of the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum this Hayes Town Egg sculpture will be on display for the first time ever. The Vivian Alexander Gallery and Museum will have this sculpture on display at the Acadiana Center for the Arts on Vermilion St. in Lafayette for one day, Thursday, October 23, 2008.
Twenty two years ago Alexander Caldwell was commissioned by A. Hayes Town, a most influential architect in the history of Louisiana, to create an egg sculpture to commemorate this famous architect’s work. Alexander chose the Museum on St. Mary Blvd. as the center of his commissioned piece; he decided that this structure embodied everything that was Town’s legacy as well as his major contribution to Lafayette and USL historical architecture.
In addition to an exact scale model of the Museum, many small and innocuous areas of the sculpture are embedded with symbols that make it a historical chronicle that is the fame of Hayes Town.

Vivian Alexander has evolved into a new era. By taking the traditional footed egg purse and today’s fashion, Vivian Alexander has created a new look that has never been seen before. With its 1920’s influences and today’s style this line immortalizes Art Deco in a whole new way. These purses are no longer footed and are nothing but silver and black, making it the thing to wear with that little black dress.
Be the first to see the new collection
This bold new collection will be having its premiere debut November 28th, 2007 in Baton Rouge at the fall fashion trunk show, hosted by Raffaele’s Boutique and Furs from 10:30 to 7:00. Our Vivian Alexander egg is featured in the Warner Bros. Ocean’s Twelve movie. The Imperial Coronation Egg scene appears in the last half of the movie and involves the Ocean gang trying to steal the Vivian Alexander Egg from the Vatican. There are actually two Eggs used in the movie in the same scene. Vivian Alexander created both eggs and shipped them to Rome for the filming, they started in the Vatican the very next day. You can watch the Ocean’s Twelve movie on CBS TV tonight at 8:00pm.
